Lululemon Blissfeel Trail review – Women’s Running

The best 5K races in the UK 2023

Popular clothing brand Lululemon made their first foray into running shoes with the Lululemon Blissfeel last year, which was an instant hit among many runners. A second iteration followed in early 2023 and, now, a trail version has arrived. Like the original Blissfeel, the Blissfeel Trail has been designed specifically for women – let’s see how it stacks up against the best trail running shoes out there.

What is this shoe for?

This is a versatile shoe that’s designed for trail, but that your feet won’t take issue with on roads. It’s a sleek design that I can see lots of runners liking the look of. It’s perfect for everyday trail running and could definitely cope with slightly wet or muddy trails. There’s also a lovely extra bit of water-repellent protection across the upper that means you could definitely wear these in the rain, though I found the roof of the toe box to be a little leaky in very wet weather. It would be a great option for trail running beginners.

How do these shoes fit?

A word of warning before you buy: Lululemon shoes run a little small in my experience so I went up a size and a half from my everyday walking shoes in these and it was a good call. There was still a bit of room in the toe box, whi is nice and wide, but the upper fit snugly around my feet and provided a bit of stability to my trail running.

Are these shoes comfortable?

The upper and inner are lovely and plush, with a soft tongue that sits flat against my foot and doesn’t chafe at all. I’d prefer a little more cushioning underfoot, but the molded heel support and slightly raised arch were welcome.

The main appeal of these shoes is how easily you can transition from road to trail. For those of us who don’t live in the gorgeous countryside, the reality of a trail run is often a clunky start while negotiating lugs over pavement. But the grippy, rubber sole doesn’t get in the way of road running while still providing extra security on more tricky terrain. They’re relatively responsive, too: you’re probably not going to be reaching for these when it comes to your speediest trail runs, but the balanced sole won’t hold you back. Although I love that they’re designed specifically for women’s feet, I must admit that I didn’t really notice the difference apart from the fact that they’re a bit smaller and narrower than your average shoe, which is why sizing up was essential for me. The heel support was much needed here as I’d sized up to compensate for the narrowness, so I was grateful that it helped minimize any issues with my feet slipping out of the back.

Should I buy this shoe?

If you’re a road runner who’s tempted to make your trail debut, or you’re doing more everyday trail running and need a shoe that will help you clock up the miles, then these are a great bet. I’d particularly recommend these for runners with narrower feet, as I imagine they’re catering for women who struggle to find a slim enough fit – my big stompers and I couldn’t possibly comment!

Where can I buy this shoe?
