This April, ASICS will host a series of athlete-inspired events at its Oxford Street store.
The events will take place between Wednesday 19th and Monday 24th April. Each event will celebrate and support Eilish McColgan as she makes her marathon debut at the end of the month.
The series of activities aims to give customers an insight into elite distance running. They will bring together education, product trials, a pace challenge, and a chance for celebration.
ASICS London vs Eilish McColgan Events
Exhibition of Eilish
Wednesday 19th – Monday 24th April
Open to all customers
In the days leading up to this year’s London Marathon, the ASICS in-store community space will transform into an Exhibition of Eilish. It will feature artefacts of her from her career to date, and a wall space where visitors can leave messages of support ahead of her taking on 26.2 miles for the first time.
The exhibition explores her inspirational story, from beginner runner to gold medalist. It will include insight into her journey, from overcoming career-ending injuries to breaking European records.
race the pace
Wednesday 19th – Monday 24th April
Open to all customers
Customers will be invited to hop on an instore treadmill and attempt to match Eilish’s half marathon pace for as long as possible. Eillish ran the Berlin Half Marathon 2023 in a scorching time of 65:43, which means the pace to match is 05:01/mile, or 03:07/km.
This fun challenge will provide an immersive manifestation of Eilish’s impressive speed and endurance. What’s more, it will give customers the chance to win a place at the ASICS London 10k in July.
Participants will be able to take on the challenge in ASICS premier racing shoe, the METASPEED Sky+.
‘Need for Metaspeed’ Product Trial
Wednesday 19th & 21st April 6-8pm
ASICS London will be hosting a series of interval sessions on Wednesday and Friday. These sessions will be led by ASICS athletes and Sound Mind, Sound Body (SMSB) experts.
Here, consumers can trial the METASPEED Sky + racing shoe worn by pro athletes, including Eilish.
Attendees will also gain an insight into how athletes prepare for race day. This will include maintaining an SMSB before, during and after a race.
‘Sign of Your Times’ – Free signed poster from Eilish
Monday 24th April – 12 – 4pm
On Monday 24th April, anyone who has run a marathon will have the chance to get their own time printed on a signed poster by McColgan.
The live in-store printing is available for all medal holders and will create an inspiring visual to encourage them on future running endeavours.
This event rounds off an exciting month of activity from ASICS London, after the brand restarted its free run clubs and fitness classes from the in-store community space earlier in March.
